Inspection of Childcare Services

Tusla, The Child and Family Agency’s Pre-school Inspection Team is responsible for inspecting pre-schools, play groups, day nursery, crèches, day-care and similar services which cater for children aged 0-6 years.  

Types of Childcare Services

From the Childcare Care Early Years Regulations issued in June 2016, the following classifies the different level/ types of childcare provision.

  • Full-Day services (Over 5 Hours)
  • Sessional Services (Under 3.5 Hours)
  • Part time services (over 3.5 hours and less than 5 hours)
